Beulah Cardin, 86, of Sonora, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at her daughter Nancy's home in Conroe, Texas, after a brief illness. Beulah was born in Dana, Illinois, to Vernon and Alma Fulkerson on April 24, 1935. Her family moved to Kentucky when she was 6 months old and settled in Sonora. She is a Class of 1953 graduate of Sonora High School where she also attended grade school. In 1955, she married George Cardin while he was on leave with the U.S. Army before shipping out to Germany for 18 months. They were married for 63 years and raised two children. Beulah served the Lord as a faithful worker at First Baptist Church Sonora. She served as Sunday School teacher, Children's Department leader, VBS director, teacher, worker and kitchen committee. In the last few years, she and others formed a quilting group in the church and made quilts to be donated to River City Love Squad for homeless people. When visiting Nancy and family in Texas, she loved helping with MOPS and ESL programs at First Baptist Conroe. Beulah retired as a school bus driver for Hardin County Schools after almost 30 years of driving. Along with her normal routes, she also drove on many school field trips, for sports teams and for years as part of the driving team for the East Hardin High School Rebeleer Band. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents and sister-in-law Wanda Fulkerson. She is survived by a son, Neal (Lisa); and a daughter, Nancy (John) Ankoviak; three grandchildren, Tabitha (Jonathan) Carroll and John-John Ankoviak and stepgrandson, Matt Melton; six great-grandchildren, Taylor-Ann Melton, RyLeigh Melton, Jordyn Sallee, Emma Jean Melton, Hazel Grace Melton and Joseph Carroll. She is also survived by three brothers, Larry (Linda) Fulkerson, Gary (Carol) Fulkerson, Gale Fulkerson and a special niece, Karen Reed Miller. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at First Baptist Church Sonora with Dr. Jim Hill officiating. Burial follows in Sonora Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora.
